The Accidental Doctor

A little bit about me….

My first post. so wanted to write little bit about me, this is partially inspired by the book with similar name and partially by how i finally got the title ‘Dr.’. Because it was not that simple as for most other doctors.

I belong to a typical Indian Middle Class family where parents want their children to become doctors, engineers and lawyers. So my mother was no exception, she also wanted to make all her children doctors. When the time came to opt the stream in 11th std, the discussion started in the family. I happen to be Maths topper in 10th class, so there is a split in opinion, my father wanted me to take Maths and enter IIT whereas my mother wanted me to become doctor. Finally i sided with my mother and choose Biology, but this happened after attending Maths section for 2 months, when my mother insisted me to take up biology.

After 12th i took PMT (Pre medical test) 2 times but could not secure good enough rank to get a MBBS seat, i also discovered that though i am very good at skilled work, i am lousy at taking competitive exams. So after the second attempt i decided to join M.Tech Pharmaseutical technology as my career option because it was connected to medical community and also has a technical component and even though i took biology my basic inner nature kept to explore technology as a hobby. After 3 months into Pharmacy, govt. caught a cheating scam in medical entrance exam and around 40 students were suspended and court allowed to conduct special counselling round to fill up those seats. Very few aspirants came to know about this special round and as it happened i got the last MBBS seat of that session in the month of December.

So my journey started to get the title “Dr.”…

So finally my journey as a doctor started at the most unexpected time and most unexpected way. This is how i accidentally became a doctor. My journey started as a maths student in senior secondary, changed to biology then as pharmacy student to finally entered Medical.
